Judging a tool by one output is like judging a die by one roll.

The idea

The same prompt can give you a different result each time, because each output is one pick from a range of possibilities. A draw, not an answer. Turn the randomness setting down and the picks repeat; turn it up and they scatter. What the machine really holds is the whole range. Every single output is just one visit to it.

Generate the same façade brief three times. You get three cousins, not three copies. The differences show you what the model treats as optional, and that tells you something real about your brief.

Watch for this

Treating the first output as "the answer the machine chose." It did not choose. It drew one from many.

Try it

Run one prompt five times. Lay the five side by side. Mark what stayed constant and what wandered. The constants are what your prompt actually pinned down.

Prove it

Explain, using dice or a shuffled deck, why the same prompt gives different results, and what the randomness setting changes.

How it works

At each step the model holds a spread of likely continuations, each with a probability. A sampler picks from that spread; settings like temperature widen or narrow the picking.
