The route

  1. AI is not one thing — Chess engines, spam filters and chatbots are three different things with one name.
  2. Learned, not programmed — Nobody wrote this behaviour line by line, so there is no rulebook to read.
  3. The prompt is a brief — A prompt needs the same discipline as a brief to a consultant or a junior.
  4. Set the rubric before you generate — A rubric written in advance fixes the standard before the polish can lower it.
  5. The red pen is authorship — Marking up the output is the act that turns generated material into authored work.
  6. Defending AI work in jury — You defend the chain of judgment, not the image.
  7. Declaring AI in your submission — Declaring a use does not make a forbidden one allowed, so know this assignment's rule.
  8. Judgment is the job — AI multiplies options faster than a designer can inspect them, so judgment is the job.
